November 2000 The Tengye Ling community was invited to Diwali celebrations at the Hare Krisna Temple, right around the corner from us on Avenue road! Thirteen people experienced the chanting of mantras and prayers, a presentation of various cultural offerings of music, dance and drama, a discourse on the Bhagavad-Gita, and a sumptuous Indian meal. All in attendance felt warmly welcomed by the congregation, and a representative presented Gen-la with a flower-garland. In these ways, our connection became clear, and the Hare Krisna devotees showed their deep reverance for Lord Buddha, whose image they have on their main Shrine.
