RETURN FROM
INDIA AND NEPAL

April 1999

Ven. Lama Tenzin Kalsang (Gen-la) and Ani-la returned at the end of March 1999 from their trip to India and Nepal.  They brought back the 7 1/2 foot statue of Shakyamuni Buddha that was being constructed in India.   This statue is a duplicate of the new statue just installed in Gyumed Tantric Monastery and so it is a most auspicious addition to Canada!!

Also, they brought huge monastic silver offering bowls, incense and malas.  Also, four new thangkas were brought back to Tengye Ling of Manjushri, Green Tara, Yamantaka and Vajrapani.  The thankas were painted by His Holiness The Dalai Lama's Master painter, Sangye Yeshe, in Dharamsala, India.  The presence of these precious thangkas brings an added sacred energy to Tengye Ling.  We just recently had hand-delivered the thangka of Chenrezig, Buddha of Compassion, which also carries with it sacred energy.

The Zongar Choede monks, who visited us in July, will be returning next April, after their tour in the U.S., to perform the consecration on the new statue and, next year, we will be holding an installation ceremony of this incredible statue.
