KALACHAKRA 1999 In August 1999, a group of about 23 people from Tengye Ling went down to Bloomington, Indiana for the Kalachakra Initiation Ceremony given by His Holiness The Dalai Lama. It was held on the grounds of the Tibetan Cultural Centre which was founded and is directed by His Holiness' elder brother, Takster Rinpoche, Professor Thupten Jigme Norbu. The tent erected for the event held 5000 people, and on the TCC grounds also are two Stupas, the Jangchub Chorten and the newly built Kalachakra Stupa. His Holiness taught for three days on the Buddhist Path, and from the eighth chapter on meditation from Arya Shantideva's "A Guide to the Bodhisattva's Way of Life". For many, this was the first opportunity to be with His Holiness, and we have all come away with the lasting feeling of how beneficial it is to be in His presence.
